Secondary Programme
From the ages of 11 to 16, the compulsory subjects are English and Maths (and Science for those thinking about a career in Medicine). Children don't want to make a mistake at this stage their future careers are at stake. Therefore, the key focus is the attaining of good results at GCSE level. This involves regular practice using latest exam questions. We have access to all examining bodies and their criteria. These resources are used to help students prepare and excel themselves for the A level challenge ahead.
We tailor make the tuition to required Exam Board by identifying the target areas for improvement. We then create the Programme and evaluate for further action, if required.
English
All children study texts that will be come up in their exams that change from one year to the next. Without thorough knowledge, it is impossible to get good grades. In addition, knowing what the examiner is looking for also helps immensely.
Students are also tested on their ability to write and find contexts within written material to question argue and persuade. The idea is that the job market is becoming more and more competitive so these key skills are critical to success.
Maths
There are four key target areas:
Numbers, Handling Data, Shape and Space and Algebra. Within each, a student must have the individual competence to independently solve problems. The questions set in exams test from all angles so learning by rote is out of the question!
Science
We have a unique Science Scheme with practical Micro-scale Experiments in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. These are crucial to a deeper understanding of scientific enquiry required at this level.
ICT
GCSE support as well as the DIADA are covered. The emphasis is on practical application of ICT. This makes ICT enjoyable and we find better response from students and therefore more success.
